Optimizing Operations With Digital Tools

Digitalisation of products and service is now an integral part of every business process. However, its impact on business performance is not fully understood. In this study the Italian startup population is analysed to discover their digital behavior. Particularly, the implementation of intra-organizational and inter-organizational digital infrastructures are considered. Utilizing a mixed methods approach using manual analysis (Step 3) as well as computer-assisted analysis (Step 4), and confirmation analysis (Step 5) are analyzed in order to identify the most important factors that affect the digital behavior of Italian startups.

The analysis of the data shows that the average, Italian startups use 1,23 interorganizational and 1,75 intra-organizational systems. It is also apparent that the utilization of these digital infrastructures is sporadic: on average, almost 90% of the reviewed Italian startups adopt no more than two of the inter-organizational digital infrastructures that are considered and 68% of the startups have only adopted less than one of the intra-organizational digital infrastructures.

These results suggest that a significant majority of Italian startups exhibit a digital follower behaviour rather than advancing digital leader behaviour. The main reason may https://adslwireless.biz/creative-deal-structures-with-vdrs-in-italys-ma/ be due to the fact that, despite having been enrolled in the Startup Act policy initiative, they are not yet mature enough to adopt digital leadership strategies. This is the reason that it is suggested to the government that they implement new policies aimed at increasing the digitalization of Italian Startup Ecosystem. This could include, for example, public financial incentives aimed at facilitating the digitalization of startups.
